Golfer with Disability Scores Hole-in-One at Niagara Parks’ Legends on the Niagara
Niagara Falls, ON – A most rare event occurred at The Niagara Parks Commission’s (NPC) Legends on the Niagara, on April 16. Frank Peter, a Niagara Falls resident who has been paralyzed from the chest down since 1985 scored a hole-in-one while enjoying his first round of golf of the year with his nephew Jordan. Mr. Peter is able to play golf today thanks to the SoloRider golf car, a specially designed stand-up swivel seat car, which elevates to allow players to tee off and putt, while also allowing them to travel onto the greens and even into sand bunkers, due to its turf-friendly designed tires. Legends on the Niagara became Ontario’s first golf complex to offer the SoloRider golf car in 2007, thereby enhancing the facility’s overall accessibility for those looking to play its courses.
“I was so excited to have drained my first ever hole-in-one on the 14th hole par 3 at the Battlefield course while using the SoloRider,” stated Mr. Peter, “I used a 22 degree Wilson Staff Fybrid and the ball hit just short of the green on the right hand side of the flag stick. The ball took a bounce up and rolled onto the green. I heard it hit the pin and I asked my nephew Jordan, ‘Did you hear that?’ He was jumping up and down and said, ‘What do you mean hear that, it went in!'” Mr. Peter continued, “I have always dreamed about getting a hole-in-one. Thanks to the Niagara Parks Commission for providing the SoloRider, which allows me to play golf, my dream of a hole in one has come true.”
When sharing the exciting news with Roger Pretekin, founder and President of SoloRider in Colorado, Mr. Peter also found out that he was the first person to have ever reported a hole in one while golfing with a SoloRider.
